Music Monday: Jealous

I'm kinikilig whenever I hear this song. Nick Jonas has transformed to a borta version of himself and it suits him. I never thought he could exude this kind of sexiness through music. I don't know about you guys, but I like it!

OAWSP: Halloween

I hope you all enjoyed your sweet treats. Enjoy the Halloween lovely people!

I wasn't ready with my make-up and costume but, I'm eager for the candy haul.

Have a good night!

Booties For Fall

Fall season is coming! Tis the season to layer clothing, give the summer clothes a rest and wear booties! Though I already have my boots for fall, I added a riding boot for me to drool over.

I'm thinking of getting no. 5, 2 and 7 (I'm torn between 2 and 7). I just need to choose one. Good luck to me.

    Serendipity 3

Serendipity 3 is a renowned celebrity favorite thanks to its famous original New York City location, whimsical desserts and frequent appearances in film. Begin with its famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate drink that blends 20 different kinds of chocolate into an icy cocoa concoction. Indulge in unique takes on classic dishes like the colossal dinosaur-sized BBQ Ribs, Monster Meatballs and Spaghetti and hundreds of other items.  -- Source

With an old-fashioned ice cream parlor d├ęcor, Serendipity 3's setting is colorfully appealing to both adults and youths. Expect the pleasantly unexpected at this casual, quirky dining and drinking destination located just off the Las Vegas Strip near Caesars Palace's front fountains. --SOURCE

Me and my sisters-in-law waiting in queue.

Interiors transcends a colorful ambiance that appeals to adult and children. The vibe is still comfortable which makes this place perfect for meet-ups and get-together with friends or families (if the place is not packed). Make sure you come here at off-peak hours to avoid a long queue.

We came there for dessert. While waiting for our order, I was pa-simple looking at other customers table. Servings are HUGE. But, I was still surprised to see what Serendipity has in-store for us.
The Best Red Velvet Cake. Moist, not too sweet (for my taste) and creamy. Delicious!

It's delicious as well but, the serving was overwhelming I felt full right away. I think 1/4 of the serving will do for me the next time. Better yet, share it with someone.
    Fried Oreo...Sinfully good!
This chocolate-y drink looks innocent at first but, wait till the alcohol runs straight into throat...

    More alcohol-based desserts for adults!

    Whoa! We finished everything!

The next time that I'm here, I'll definitely try their other desserts and classic dishes.
    Customer-service: OK.
    Cleanliness: OK.
    Price Range: $$-$$$
    Crowd control: Pleasant

    • Please let there be High Speed Bullet Trains from San Diego to San Francisco, California! And the the rest of the USA. Know why a bullet train can change everything.
    • When I was still in Singapore, I made sure that after we finished our contract with our first flat I will look for a walking-distance lodging for the next few years. The rent was higher but, I don't mind at all. It doesn't come at par to the stress of commuting and traffic. My family could tell that ever since I moved to Everton Park, I'm happier. It's a different story here in the car country. For now, I'm still happy with walking and public transport. It may not be perfect but, it works for me. Some people think so too.

    The Boiling Crab

I just love how The Boiling Crab reoriented my taste bud on eating some mean crab and shrimp.

You have to get down and dirty with it. Hands clean, hair up, plastic bib tight on your neck. We had it to go, the first time.

The second time was when Toper was here for a visit. We went to their space in MiraMesa. The place has a rugged and simple ambience. It's big place, overcrowding is not a problem and they handle the crowd well.

I think the interiors and ambiance matches the food, SIMPLE and straight to the point.

Just make sure, the hands are clean!
I think the secret is in the sauce. I mean, I've eaten seafood many times but, I find it delicious because it was cooked and presented differently. I love it especially when you pour the sauce in steaming white rice. Yum!
Little brother likes TBC. I saw it in his face before and after.

    In-n-Out Burger

I leave Vegas for the meantime.

As we were leaving, I noticed that The Luxor is a little isolated from everybody. Next time I should try riding the Monorail
    I'll see you soon JBWKZ
Thereafter, all I see is this...SUN and SAND.

Upon arriving in Barstow, I finally had the chance to eat In-N-Out Burger! Yipeeee!!!!! (And to think, that this burger joint is just a 5-10 minutes walk from our house >.< )

I've been hearing a lot about this burger. I have friends who had tried it here in California and a successful pop-up in Singapore. With a positive feedback, how can I not be jittery the moment I stepped inside the store.
The fries are great! Deep-fried to perfection.
    We had the Double-Double burger.
There's something about the juiciness of the burger. That complements the cheese and the rest of the toppings. According to Jaina, for her it has something to do with "THE SAUCE."

I was in a food coma for the rest of the trip. I'm sooooooooooo Hhhhhhaaaaaappppyyyyyyyy!!!!!!

The second time I ate there, I brought along my brother Peng (who was visiting at the time). For him it was just OK. Meaning: "Above average. Fries in Shake Shack are way better." Well that's his opinion. It stirred a curiosity about Shake Shack and the yearning of visiting New York City soon.

For now, I'll enjoy my In-n-Outs.

    XOXO

    Vegas After Sunset

A night in Las Vegas is a delightful treat to your senses. We didn't came here for gambling and partying, we just enjoyed the sights. I just hope the next time I'm here I'll be seeing Britney Spears, Jabbawockeez and Cirque du Soleil.
The Champs replica with Gordon Ramsay's imagery. I tell you, his presence in Vegas is everywhere.

    Las Vegas Newbie

We had this trip last year, a day after Halloween. My sister-in-law Jaina and her husband came for a visit. My other sis-in-law Marilou planned a short getaway to Las Vegas to make their stay worthwhile. As for me, this was my first out-of-state trip.

It was a smooth 6 hours drive from Chula Vista. With mandatory stops for snacks, restroom use and coffee break. We arrived around 2 AM at The Strip. We checked-in at The Quad. Here's the view from our window.

    Music Monday: Rude

I'm loving this song now! It's all over iTunes radio, Spotify and radio stations here in San Diego...

I'm busy with work nowadays. I'll try my best to update the blog using my iPad. I recently started using this as a compact alternative for a PC desktop while away from home. I'm still taking photos but not as much. I'm still on the "thinking" phase of my art/craft blog. I'm hoping that I could start it soon.

I find myself again at a phase that I-want-to-start-something-new-but-I-need-money-to-get-it-over-with. Then I start work and I find myself tired and exhausted. My motivation slowly goes down the drain. Nevertheless, I will persist to reach my goals, I'm not going to let exhaustion stop me.

Continue planning and execute once ready!

    Keeping my hopes high...

    Things To Do In Phuket

There are lots of activites to do in Phuket. It will highly depend on your interests. Here's what we had.

    1. Participate in local festivities

We arrived during the Loi Krathong Festival. Too bad we were not able to witness the floating lanterns (darn!). Performances along the beach and Bangla road are available to entertain. Not to mention the colorful decorations all over town were beautiful. Take note: we didn't pay anything at all.

    Phuket, Thailand

                                            ph4
The island of Phuket has long been misunderstood. Firstly, the ‘h’ is silent. Ahem. And secondly, Phuket doesn’t feel like an island at all. It’s so huge (the biggest in Thailand) that you rarely get the sense that you’re surrounded by water, which is probably the reason why the ‘Ko’ (meaning ‘island’) was dropped from its name. Dubbed the ‘pearl of the Andaman’ by marketing execs, this is Thailand’s original flavour of tailor-made fun in the sun.  ---LONELY PLANET

It's Never Too Late For Resolutions

I decided to lay-out my plans for the year, three months too late (LOL). Well, it's never too late for some change and improvement.

My photo-taking skills has not improved. Well for starters, I haven't really practiced at all! Though I've read some lessons on the basics but I have difficulty understanding it. I cringe, every time I see it in Facebook. I've decided to delete most of it. I won't be posting much on Facebook because it urges me to edit in a hurry. Results were "blah" and unimpressive. I'll just post photos in the blog and Flickr.

I don't plan to become a professional photographer but, as a blogger my photograph has to have "oomph." It needs to stand-out, evoke emotions and  awe.

    Travel more...

This year will most probably cater to local travel. Me and my husband has yet to stabilize our finances to afford it. Hopefully, at least one to two locations. I'm looking forward to travel via the Amtrak.

    I love arts and crafts!

I'm fascinated with it especially when I was younger. My mind might have been brainwashed with "pressing issues" before. But now, there's no holding back. I am exploring creative opportunities. If the internet was developed earlier, I should have known that there are lots of people who share my passion.

I've been in crocheting hiatus since I became a nurse. I hate the fact that I've neglected it for many years. Despite the time, I'm still glad that re-orientation with the hook and yarn were like the old times. I'm now half way through a scarf and finished a plastic container (you heard me right, I used a plastic bag).

I decided to document my art/craft journey by blogging. I will be using Tumblr this time around.

I want to add painting (water-color), lino-cutting, sewing and calligraphy.I'll try my best to learn patiently. I'm excited!

I know I can't accomplish everything, all at the same time. I made my list to keep me focused. I might discover something better along the way. At least, I can say to myself that I've tried and lead me to a  certain
direction. A path of self-improvement and reinvention.

    XOXO

    Surpsing Facts About the Oscar's

I want to be a seat-filler...I don't mind being bored as long as, I'm paid!

    Music Monday: Let It Go

Ladies! Empower yourselves with your OWN strength and abilities. Defy limits and explore. Do what you think is right as long as you don't harm anyone along the road.

I'm just glad Disney is more gender sensitive nowadays. Watch Frozen and you'll know what I mean.

    Last USA Exit

It's fascinating to know, that there's another "world" behind the walls of the California border. It felt like, I was back in Singapore (because of its proximity to Malaysia).

It's one of the busiest borders in the world. Border Patrol agents are everywhere (by land, air and sea). My husband strictly advises me to bring my identification card ALWAYS. Just in case an agent randomly ask me for an ID, I can show them proof of my residency.

     Tijuana is right there...

Before crossing the border, there's a place in San Ysidro that attracts shoppers. It's located in Camino de la Plaza, the last USA exit.

Las Americas Premium Outlets is the area's largest outlet center. With 125 stores featuring Adidas, Banana Republic, BCBG Max Azria, Brooks Brothers, Calvin Klein, Coach, Gap Outlet, Guess, J.Crew, Kenneth Cole, Lacoste, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and more plus an excellent choice of eateries and restaurants.  --source

I love it there. The best day to visit: weekdays. Don't ask about the weekends ( I don't want to get started on store queues, parking and stream of people). Some stores don't actually announce further sale promotions, it's a hit-or-miss kind-of-thing. It depends on the store most of the time. Tip: Know your holiday dates (holiday promos) and fashion calendar (end-of-season clearance - way better than Black Friday). Consider yourself lucky if you dropped by on the mentioned time of the year. I have to warn you, items/sizes runs out fast. It's advisable to come early.

Just be patient in looking for a clothing that will last you a long time and doesn't break the bank. Take your time, you'll find what you're looking for.

    Eating Out in San Diego

Eating out in San Diego has a diverse array of food choices. From buffet, fast food chain, cafes etc. San Diego has it. It may take me a lifetime to try everything but, I need to start somewhere.

    1. Mongolian Stir Fry
Stir Fresh was started by a family of Mongolian Barbeque eaters with 25 years of mongolian dining experience. When relocating to San Diego County in 1996, we could not find a Mongolian Barbeque restaurant, so we opened our own. We serve Mongolian Barbeque in the traditional way, with the finest of ingredients including white breast chicken and the traditional sesame seed pocket biscuit (shau Bin).  ---Source
