Deepavali

Late post.

Before I start, I want to greet my Indian friends and colleagues a Happy Thaipusam Festival. I was Orchard Road today and saw a lot of people in Dhoby Gaut. This is the second time that I experienced Thaipusam Festival from inside bus 190. I just admire their faith. I think pain is nothing when you devote your life to God.

So off with my late post...Super late if I may add.

It was my  first to experience Deepavali. Ate Brenda, our host, welcomed us with open arms. She treated us like family that made it more awesome. According to Ate Brenda Deepavali / Diwali is the Festival of Lights.

Ate Brenda shared a lot of interesting facts about the Indian culture. It's declared as a Public Holiday (PH) in Singapore and India. Expect a congested Little India especially the Mustafa Centre. They buy lots of garments and accessories, food etc. a few weeks  before.

The food is simple. I like how the mutton curry was cooked. The meat was tender, making it easier to chew. Black pepper prawns and Spicy Chicken are all good. Pair it with bread and you'll be full in few minutes.

We also did henna tatoo by Ate Brenda's niece. I forgot her name but, she's one creative gal.

Deepavali
Ate Brenda's brother-in-law. He's been to the Philippines a few times. He specifically remembers Mabini Street where he hangs out. Just to get hold of our cheap alcoholic bevs. I ask him to marry a Filipina. He's still looking...

He can sing Tagalog songs. His favorite Filipino singers are Gary V. and Renz Verano. He loves singing karaoke.
